Like any new mother, Elizabeth Picklo was excited about the upcoming birth of her son. She had lots of hopes and dreams for him - all the typical thoughts and plans: watching him play and grow, go off to school, make friends, start driving and dating, etc. And, CJ was born two months early, Elizabeth still felt happy and confident when he was released from NICU after only three weeks. Once at home, she settled into her role as a new mother with CJ. However, over time, Elizabeth began to notice that CJ wasn’t reaching various communication milestones – he wasn’t speaking at all. CJ’s pediatrician recommended hospital-based evaluation and therapy, but with a wait list of over a year, she felt they would lose crucial development time for CJ. That’s when Elizabeth discovered CHSC through an online search and the family was thrilled to find out they could get an appointment within weeks. After CJ’s evaluation, he began working with a CHSC Speech Language Pathologist. He has and continues to build vocabulary and makes tremendous progress. CJ is now 5 years old and is working hard to prepare for Kindergarten. Elizabeth knows he’ll be ready when the time comes. She says, “We wouldn’t be where we are today with CJ’s progress if it weren’t for CHSC. They have not only given him the skills he needs to succeed – they have given me back my hopes and dreams for him.” When you donate to Cleveland Big Wheel Relay, you’re literally changing lives for the better. We know that early intervention is key for children of all backgrounds and that’s why we exist. Your donation does more than just help, it is transformative in the lives of the families we serve. Please consider making a donation today – because the people we serve can’t wait for tomorrow. We are a team, trying to help others, and we're having fun along the way! Gallagher Tenet #2 We support one another. We believe in one another. We acknowledge and respect the ability of one another.

Who says you can't change the world three wheels at a time? We race in honor of Jim Samuels, an accomplished member of the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center Board of Directors! Jim is chair of the CHSC Facilities Committee and has spent countless hours working to benefit our community. Because of his commitment, hard work, and support, CHSC has extended it's life-changing services to the west side of Cuyahoga County. Jim is a King of the Community and a Friend of All. Join us in honoring Jim and all of the wonderful ways he has made a difference in Northeast Ohio!!! Please donate to support our team! 100% of donations go directly to services needed by children and families in Northeast Ohio. Your gift can help someone get speech therapy, a hearing aid, or services to seek employment. It will make a difference! Come root for us on race day, too! Thank you so much! Please donate to Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center! The Ladies of the 80s team is comprised of Speech and Development Department staff who strive to make sure that those with communication needs in the community receive services, regardless of their ability to pay. Tracy, Linda, Emily and Michelle are ready for the big race but need your donations. Donations will go to support children like Neveah, who at two didn't have the words to request help or ask for a hug. There are also adults like Bart, who after a stroke was unable to have a conversation with his wife. After receiving therapy at Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center, clients like Neveah and Bart can communicate effectively with their loved ones. Be "totally awesome" and consider a donation, big or small, that will lead to positive changes in the lives of many.

Hey all! Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center has meant a lot to my family for as long as I can remember. Jamie has been a frequent patient and my mom has worked there forever. CHSC also provided me with Speech Therapy as a kid, so we've been very involved with and moved by the organization. It would mean a lot if you could help chip in for their annual flagship fundraiser! Please come watch Erin, Meg, Timmy, and me as we race big wheels and potentially make fools of ourselves. Hope to see you there!

Paislee has been receiving services at the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center since 2015. Shortly after birth, Paislee was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss. CHSC has been a God-send to our family. CHSC helped us navigate through the unknown and assisted with providing the services she needed to flourish. At 4 years old, Paislee is stream lining in a regular preschool and has exceeded milestones for her personal growth and development. We owe so much to the organization that provided comfort, clarity and hope to our family. Please help us reach our goal by donating to this worthy cause. #Paislee'sPilots #inittowinit #4thyearinarow

Have you ever experienced the help of a saint in your life ? I did once, when my twins, Claire & Emily, were born without ears. Her name is Bridgid Whitford of the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center. She came to my home, embraced us and welcomed us into her CHSC family. The Center’s Regional Infant Hearing Program immediately stepped into action to encourage us, educate us about microtia atresia, and support us. RIHP referred us to one of their best audiologists, Laura Brady. Now the twins can hear, using the Bone Conduction Hearing Aids. These women are saints, and these saints are the reason that my Sisters and I race every year to raise money for this exceptional organization. They inspire us to make a difference in other’s lives, as they have done for me and my twins. I am eternally grateful. When you live with hearing loss, you're not simply missing out on sounds, you're missing out on life, laughter and words of encouragement. From Gail

Hello Everyone, We are back again for our 7th year and are proud to be a part of this fun and exciting race that raises money for the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center. They helped us with our daughters Claire and Emily who were born hearing impaired, they are 8yrs old and doing very well in school and at home thanks to the services they provide. This year my stretch goal is $1000 for this event. My wife and I are having a kids Big Wheel Event May 18th at the North Chagrin Reservation to further help give back and drum up support for the June 22nd Event. So please give what you can and come join us in May! Thanks Nathan Szabo
